Letter of the Executive Committee – 2020 GM and amendments to the ER Charter
Dear colleagues of the European Region Member Organisations.
The next General Meeting is only a few months away and we on the Executive Committee are looking forward to seeing you.
Based on your feedback on the last General Meeting, we have taken on board your constructive feedback and reduced the number of reports and presentations and increased the number of discussion sessions.
We hope to evaluate this after the meeting.
In view of the new constitution of the WCPT which was passed at the General Meeting last May, we need to make some changes to our own Charter to keep it aligned to the WCPT constitution.
These relate mostly to the WCPT regional Board Member - we need to remove the election process as that will be organised by the WCPT in future and to remove the position from the ER Executive Committee.
Instead of losing a place on the Executive Committee we propose to keep the EC composition as it is (5 members in total) by converting the position to an ordinary Executive Committee Member.
We made some changes to the aims, objectives and activities to better reflect the role of the Region.
Lastly there are a series of smaller changes -pertaining to grammar, structure and language that will hopefully improve the clarity of the document.
There were some contradictions between the Charter and the Procedural document and these have been either made consistent or deleted.
We will deal with the changes to the Charter under three motions;
1. All minor changes, that improve clarity but that do not affect the meaning of any aspect of the Charter
2. The aims, objectives and activities
3. The change in the EC position from WCPT Regional Board Member to Executive Committee Member and all aspects related to that.
