Call for members of the Scientific Committee
5th European Congress of the European Region of the WCPT on
(11 – 12 September 2020, Leuven, Belgium)
Applications for members to serve on the Scientific Committee are now invited.
Interested persons are invited to submit their application by sending their CV and a statement of intent that includes previous experience, stating how their expertise will benefit the Scientific Committee and whether they can commit to the time necessary to fulfill the duties. The submission must be supported by a letter of endorsement from their respective WCPT member organisation.
Applications shall be received by email addressed to the General Secretary (ER-WCPT) Mr. David Gorría firstname.lastname@example.org noon of the 29th March 2018. Applicants will be notified of the outcome on the 9th April 2018.
The first meeting of the Scientific Committee shall take place as a face-to-face meeting on Friday 11th May 2018. Applicants should ensure that they are able to make this meeting.
The term of the Scientific Committee shall extend until the end of the Congress in 2020 including a post-Congress evaluation meeting. It is envisaged that there shall be four (4) face-to-face meetings with all other meetings taking place by electronic means. Participation on the Scientific Committee shall be on a Voluntary basis. Reasonable expenses incurred for the face-to-face meetings shall be covered by the Organising Committee. Membership on the Scientific Committee requires commitment of time to attend the meetings and to undertake activities as required. The Scientific Committee will be supported by secretariat staff.
The Executive Committee has nominated Dr John Xerri de Caro (Malta) as the Chair of the Scientific Committee. The European Region Executive Committee will review all applications to ensure that the composition of the scientific committee provides comprehensive skills and knowledge to fulfill its duties.
The Members of the Scientific Committee are expected to have the following expertise:
Have a research/educational background with relevant international experience and/or presence at international conferences.
Have a research/clinical practice background with relevant international experience and/or presence at international conferences.
Have previous experience in scientific programme planning at international or national level.
Have peer reviewed presentations and publication track record.

Only individuals who are members of a WCPT member organisation are eligible to be appointed. Applicants need to have the ability to work effectively in English. Member Organisations shall be contacted to confirm the good standing of the selected candidates.
